DESCRIPTION

Skin or snowshoe to a rustic hut where you will experience the beautiful Colorado backcountry for four days & three nights. Participants will learn the process of getting an appropriate hut booked, planning the menu, who to invite, what to expect at the hut, and how to make it a comfortable, fun, and safe outing for friends and family. Eat delicious hut-cooked food and enjoy the special sort of camaraderie found only in the mountains. Days will be filled with skiing or snowboarding, and avalanche safety.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • How to properly pack and fully prepare for a multi-day hut trip
  • Learn about backcountry navigation
  • Be able to execute a companion rescue

  • You are excited and ready to experience a multi-day hut trip
  • You have never been on a hut trip and want to learn how to trip plan, route find, and gain basic avalanche awareness

PREREQUISITES

  • Participants must be able to ski tour, splitboard, or snowshoe on intermediate to advanced terrain, and must and bring their own touring equipment.

Benedict 100 Hut-to-Hut Ski Tour

Description

In conjunction with the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, Aspen Alpine Guides is offering a guided ski-tour from Aspen to Vail, that will cover over 80 miles of mixed terrain with accumulated accents approaching 17,000 vertical feet.  The Benedict 100 is a very strenuous trip. Not only will it challenge your physical endurance, but also demands a high level of mental focus and determination. These challenges will be offset by the camaraderie that is shared in the group during this amazing backcountry experience.
